Day off from school

Our school district was out today for teacher inservice so Payton stayed the night at Aubry's house and then Marcy (who had taken the day off of work) took them to Putt Putt to race cars, play games and, of course, mini golf. She snapped these great pics while there.

I've spoken to a lot of you who read the blog but please feel free to post comments - would love to hear from you!

Also, we have some potentially exciting things going on regarding our future plans - if things work out, I'll be posting here! :-)

Sunday - Arts Festival w/the whole fam

Today, we all went to the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival and met Amanda and Frank at Mi Cocina for lunch first. Blake wasn't on his best behavior but as far as I could tell, the food was pretty good.

We went to the kids area to do some of the activities but ended up spending most of the time at the henna tent where Amanda and Payton both got henna tattoos.

Saturday - soccer, contacts and sushi

Blake had his weekly soccer game Saturday and played most of the time. He let 2 goals pass by him when playing goalie and he decided to walk part of the game instead of running but some play is better than no play! :-)

Payton went to an appointment to get contacts and was able to put them in while at the office but hasn't had good luck since coming home. It took me forever when I first got contacts but I'm sure she'll get the hang of it soon.

Then it was girls night out for sushi for dinner. Me, Marcy, Payton and Aubry all went to Pirahna's in downtown Fort Worth. This is a new location that is always packed and I see why now. Best. Sushi. Ever. I never eat all of my sushi and ate every last piece on my plate. Aubry had never eaten sushi so she tried some different things and liked what she had. They also have great martinis and would be a cool place to go for drinks after work. Oh....and Kelly Clarkson was sitting with her group 10 feet away from us. Only problem is that our waitress didn't tell us until she'd already left and we couldn't believe we didn't notice! The bartender kept saying that line from Forty Year Old Virgin where he says "OHHHH...KELLY CLARKSON!" and it was hilarious.

Then the 4 of us walked around Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival and had a great time.

Friday - Date night

Friday was the first of three days in a row that I would be attending the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival (MSFWAF). It was our date night and we decided to eat at PF Chang's and then walk around MSFWAF listening to live music, looking at art, etc.

This was our first time eating at PF Chang's and the food was really fantastic. I don't normally like Chinese food that much anymore but the food here is really awesome. The service was also great - we'll definitely be back!

Thursday - Ladies Lunch at my house

Amanda had been talking about sharing wedding pictures for awhile since she got married less than a year ago and none of us had seen them before. I got the idea of inviting a few ladies over for lunch (I live 3 miles from work) and all of us bringing our pics to share - our pics range in age from 27 years ago to less than 1 year ago. Food was good and fun to see everybody's pics!

Menu: Chicken salad on croissants, tuna ball (made like a cheese ball), fruit kabobs, pico de gallo w/tortilla chips, cucumbers with a salmon cream cheese filling (courtesy of Amanda) and English Trifle for dessert.

Cindy brought these silly hats for us to wear for the occasion.
