Bike rides with Blake

Blake became obsessed with his bike this summer and wouldn't stop until he learned how to ride it without training wheels. Now he's so good that we take him on bike rides with us. He calls it a "Blake sandwich" because I'm in front, he's in the middle and Andy's in the back. If we dare to move the order, Blake immediately renames the configuration. "Now we're a mom sandwich! Now it's a dad sandwich!"

On Wednesday, we took him around the lake in our neighborhood for a total of a mile. He's also gone 1.5 miles with us where we stopped for some frozen yogurt mid-way. At least we have one child who wants to do stuff with us still!

No news is good news....today anyway.

For the first time in weeks, we had nothing planned tonight.

Came home and we all got our own dinner, the house had been cleaned, everybody was happy to just relax and do nothing. And it was awesome.

Somebody ran into me

driving home from work. My neck did not like it very much. You know you are a runner when your first thought is "hope I am not too sore to run tomorrow."

Weekly health update

After a tough week last week where the runs were slightly shorter than they should have been and cross-training/weightlifting were skipped, we finished the week off well with a long run of 6 miles on Sunday.

Weight-wise we continue to drop pounds. I believe that I'm down about 13 pounds overall but will confirm on the official scale at the gym on Tuesday.

Another 5k in two weeks and half-marathon in 2 months!

Pics from the outdoor wedding shower

We had a wedding shower for Nick and Celeste on Saturday. It was pouring down rain but things went ahead as planned. It was held at Antioch Park in Shawnee - a park that we love so much we went there on our first date and got engaged there. I'm sad the weather didn't cooperate enough for us to show the kids around beyond the shelter.

See Celeste's whistle she got to use for Nick? :)

Celeste seemed to really like the picnic basket we got them. Hopefully they'll get to use it when the weather is better!
