Nathan gets to go home!

My brother's baby, Nathan, has been in the hospital since he was born and he finally gets to go home after many tests and scary episodes where his breathing stopped. He hasn't had episodes for a little while now and his tests have come back normal. The baby was transferred to Children's Mercy Hospital this week and my brother and his wife have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House so they can be close by. The Ronald McDonald House has been great to them by providing great facilities and food for almost no cost. If you are interested in making a donation, they are certainly worthy of it and have been a huge help in this situation.

Jason Whitlock

Jason Whitlock is a brilliant, thought-provoking, sometimes controversial writer for the Kansas City Star and the only writer to ever get me to turn to the sports section. He has recently temporarily deviated from sports writing in order to write about Imus and has made many appearances on TV, including Oprah this week. In my opinion, he's been the only voice of reason in the whole ordeal and I hope that his thoughts can affect some positive change. Some links...

Trip to Ikea

I don't often post about things I do with friends and I almost never post about shopping trips but going to Ikea is a whole other thing! It's huge and takes a whole day (we ate breakfast AND lunch there today!). Marcy is building a house so she has lots of things to look for and I wanted to check some things out for our house. We didn't end up buying too much but we did get lots of ideas and sore feet.

Left this morning at 9 am, got back to Fort Worth at 3:30. On the way back home, we saw 3 accidents, traffic going the other direction was at a complete standstill in parts and we saw where the tornado hit during the storm. A news picture of what we drove past:

It was an adventurous trip home! Some silly pics of our very long shopping trip where the girls did everything they could to keep from being bored.

Planning out their business that they've talked about for years. Payton definitely envisions herself having an executive desk and a rolling chair someday.

Chatting in a corner while they wait for us...
