Monkeying around

Assignment for the kids: sign 100 Christmas cards.

They did that...and then built a structure out of them.

Santa's Workshop

Today, Nicki and I took our kids (all except Payton) to Santa's Workshop which allows them to shop for gifts for people for Christmas.

Mia and Blake shared a shopping helper who happened to be Miss Junior Miss Kansas.

The twins each had their own shopper which was understandable given that they are 2.99 years old and prone to running away and not totally clear on the concept of shopping for other people.

After shopping, it was off to the wrapping area.

Then a final stop to see Santa. Blake just told me yesterday that Santa was just a man in a suit but he thought this one looked pretty real.

Micah's evil look...

Blake immediately rushed home and asked if we wanted to open our gifts. Waiting is so hard....especially when you're 7.

Things I should* like but don't

Madonna
Chelsea Handler
PioneerWoman.com
Ellipticals
Barbra Streisand
Museums
Shopping (I go twice a year and get a lot but don't go beyond that usually)
Jewelry
TVs (no HD, flat screen or big screens here)

* meaning they are very similar to other things I like and are liked by people around me but I just haven't connected to these things.

Not only does she look amazing but this LONG article is written by none other than Maureen Dowd...another hero of mine. Too much awesomeness in one place.

Thanksgiving weekend

We went to KC for 5 days for Thanksgiving weekend. We ate and ate and ate some more.

Thanksgiving dinner on my mom's pretty winter dishes.

Followed by some video games including my grandpa playing Guitar Hero. Sadly, he got 0%.

Friday after Thanksgiving, my mom and Payton and I went shopping. The number of people wasn't bad and we got some stuff accomplished.

Saturday, my mom took her 3 granddaughters for a mod-style photo shoot that I can't wait to post pics of soon.

Sunday, we drove home and as I was making some potato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for our dinner, the doorbell rang and the kids found Elf on the Shelf at our door.

Blake filled out the information in the book including what the kids decided to name him - Fredy.

Silly elf was found today sitting on the wreath above our fireplace. Who knows where he'll be tomorrow?

Overall, a great weekend and we're looking forward to Christmas festivities including putting up decorations this weekend. From this Saturday through Christmas, we have something planned nearly everyday so there should be plenty to post about.
